Rogue Board Members and Difficult Governance Situations

August 21, 2024

Head Start governance has always been complicated. The governing body, policy council and management all have distinct roles, and its important roles and effective decision-making demand a collaborative effort with everyone carrying out their respective responsibilities.  However, even board members with extensive understanding of these differences may run into situations of uncertainty regarding appropriate actions and who should take them. When can the Executive Committee act for the board and what decisions require full board attention?   Who should address instances of “rogue” behavior by a board member and what should be done?  What should the board do when one member controls discussion?

During this webinar, we will explore “gray areas,” discussing actions that should (and should not) be taken to resolve them.
