Federal Funding Academy 2.0

This two-day federal grant management training builds upon FTLF’s Federal Funding Academy, diving deeply into more advanced concepts and issues in the areas of cost allocation and contract and subrecipient management, while also providing an introduction to the various “national policy requirements” that attach to funding in most federal grant programs. 

On day one, join attorneys from FTLF’s Federal Grant Law Practice Group to examine cost allocation requirements and strategies in considerable detail, building from core concepts and legal requirements to a final session presented jointly with national accounting firm BKD LLP on operationalizing best practices within an electronic accounting system. On day two, FTLF attorneys will lead presentations, discussions, and exercises on advanced contracting concepts, subaward agreement drafting and subrecipient management best practices, and an overview of the myriad national policy requirement linked to receipt of federal funding.

Designed as a follow-on course to FTLF’s Federal Funding Academy, this training is well-suited for personnel with intermediate to advanced levels of experience.

A Partner with the firm in the Federal Grants and Health Law practice groups, Scott advises clients on matters of federal grant law, government contract law, and health care law.  Scott assists clients with the myriad requirements that apply upon acceptance of federal grant funding, including the administrative requirements and cost principles established in the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars that preceded the Uniform Guidance, and program-specific statutory and regulatory funding conditions. Serving as Managing Partner of the firm since 2003, and a member of the Health Law and Federal Grants practices since 1992, Ted is a national authority in the area of federal grants, particularly in the health and community service spheres. He advises clients on all aspects of program requirements, including issues such as cost-based reimbursement, governance, grant administration, cost reporting, and administrative issues and routinely handles challenging issues such as government audits, internal investigations, and litigation. Catherine offers consulting services to Community Health Centers (CHCs) receiving federal grant funding. Her services include performing assessments of financial operations, clean-up work to assist in preparation for financial statement audits and monthly financial statement reporting. Catherine also trains financial staff on generally accepted accounting principles and federal regulations related to grant funding and the development and review of policies and procedures.

Catherine is frequently involved with projects that assess CHC program compliance. She assists with the preparation of numerous types of federal reports and budget submissions as well as the review, analysis, and audits of 340B programs and contractual relationships. In addition, she provides training to help CHCs comply with federal regulations, including the Uniform Grants Guidance and Section 330 of the PHS act.

Participants can earn up to 13.80 CPE credits in Specialized Knowledge and Applications upon completion of all course requirements.

Cancellation/Transfer Policy

All cancellation or transfer requests must be received in writing at learning@ftlf.com. Requests for refunds or transfers for in-person events will be granted according to the following schedule:

  • 30 or more days prior to the event, requests for a full refund or a transfer without a fee will be granted.
  • Between 11 to 29 days prior to the event, requests for cancellations will be granted a 50% refund and requests for transfers will be granted, space permitting and subject to a transfer fee.
  • Within 10 days of the event start date, no requests for refunds or credits will be granted. At FTLF's discretion, late transfers may be granted, space permitting and subject to a transfer fee.
