The Floating Hospital Corporate Compliance Training

On May 17, 2018, FTLF conducted a private webinar for members of The Floating Hospital’s staff. Specifically, this corporate compliance training covered:
 
  • Compliance Programs: An overview of the underlying purpose and importance of compliance programs as well as the many benefits of a robust compliance program.
  • Required Elements: The elements of a compliance program required by the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) of New York State.
  • Staff Role: How each individual contributes to and is protected by a well-functioning compliance program.
  • Compliance Risk Areas: A review of the risk areas that compliance programs in New York must address and other key compliance areas for health centers, including (1) fraud, waste and abuse; (2) Federal grants; and (3) confidentiality.

DIANNE K. PLEDGIE

As Compliance Counsel and Partner with the firm’s health law practice group, Dianne advises health centers on implementing effective compliance programs and on addressing top compliance risk areas. Dianne counsels health centers and other organizations on developing compliance programs that include the OIG’s seven elements, respond to identified compliance risk areas and reflect the organization’s culture.  Dianne also advises health centers and other organizations on patient privacy and confidentiality, including the HIPAA Privacy Rule and 42 CFR Part 2.  She has experience responding to privacy and security incidents, including determining whether there has been a breach, notifying patients and the government, and creating corrective action plans.
