(Recorded Webinar) Navigating Telehealth Legal Risks

Duration: 70 minutes
Webinar recorded on: 3/26/20

With advances in technology, community health centers are increasingly adopting remote patient monitoring strategies, collectively referred to as “telehealth” or “telemedicine.” Leveraging telehealth has many operational and clinical benefits: it can reduce costs and improve access for patients, particularly for specialty care or in rural areas. However, existing laws and regulations make it challenging to expand services beyond the traditional face-to-face visit.

In addition, health centers must consider the HRSA instructions set forth in the recently published HRSA PAL: Telehealth and Health Center Scope of Project.

During the webinar, the presenter will summarize the HRSA scope of project nuances, as set forth in the PAL, and will address additional key legal considerations for health centers implementing or updating telehealth arrangements, including:

  • FTCA coverage;
  • Contractual pitfalls; and
  • Payment barriers.

Using real-world examples of health center telehealth arrangements, we will provide tips on how to develop and implement a telehealth strategy that complies with applicable requirements.
