Virtual Site Visit Strategies

March 25, 2021

Access the on-demand webinar here.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, HRSA has transitioned and re-focused its compliance efforts for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to a virtual compliance assessment process.  While the virtual Operational Site Visit (OSV) mirrors the onsite process in several respects, it also presents some unique challenges. When and how do health centers submit documents prior to the virtual OSV, and how does this process differ from the on-site assessment? How will the reviewers conduct the interviews and site tours, key elements of the OSV?  Will health centers have opportunities for additional discussions with reviewers regarding compliance issues and recommendations?  Coupled with the operational difficulties arising from the pandemic itself, the challenges of conducting a virtual OSV may be numerous.

Regardless of this transition to a virtual platform, compliance with the Health Center Program Requirements is still a vital component of a health center’s operations. All health centers must be prepared to present documentation and answer key questions regarding how they establish and maintain compliance on an ongoing basis, utilizing the most recent version of the Site Visit Protocol and related guidance. Is your health center prepared to meet this challenge?

This webinar will review the virtual OSV process and explore how it differs from – and is the same as – the typical on-site process. Participants will explore the current HRSA guidance, and discuss “real-life” common sense strategies and tips to prepare for a successful virtual OSV and to thrive throughout the process!
