Head Start is full of requirements and while each organization is different, the same rules apply to everyone. Between the Head Start Program Performance Standards, state regulations, and federal law requirements under the Uniform Guidance, it can be challenging to keep everything straight. In the era of the Designation Renewal System (DRS), getting it wrong can have significant negative consequences.

Join FTLF for this pre-conference workshop covering the key rules and the highest risk areas for Head Start programs. We will discuss the challenges you face every day in key topic areas every Head Start leader needs to understand, including:

  • ERSEA
  • Fiscal Integrity and Grants Management
  • Head Start Human Resources Requirements
  • Data Management Privacy Issues
  • Self-disclosures (including health and safety violations)
  • Tips for preparing for review events under the Aligned Monitoring System (AMS) 2.0 FY20
  • Deficiency Findings and Documentation

In this one-day workshop, FTLF attorneys will explain the rules of Head Start compliance, describe how to meet these standards, and discuss how to resolve concerns your program may face. In each area, we will provide specific examples to ensure that you know how to spot an issue and apply what you learned in a real-world setting.

Whether you are brand new to Head Start leadership or need a refresher on recent changes to the rules, this overview will leave you feeling confident about your program’s ability to meet and maintain compliance with its programmatic obligations.
