Government Contracts for Grantees
Nonprofits are an important part of service delivery and innovation in the public sector, providing the skills, labor, and dedication needed to carryout federal programs, from health care, to conservation, to research. Often familiar with financial assistance agreements (grants and cooperative agreements), it is not long before successful nonprofits encounter federal initiatives that are implemented through federal procurement contracts governed by the federal acquisition regulation (“FAR”). Somewhat surprisingly, the compliance requirements of FAR-based contracts differ in important ways from those applicable under grants and cooperative agreements, as do opportunities to set one’s organization apart in the competitive award process. In this webinar, FTLF attorney Scott S. Sheffler will provide an introduction to government contracts from the perspective of nonprofits already successfully carrying out grant-funded projects.
