Proactive Strategies for Limiting Legal Issues Throughout an Employee's Lifecycle
An organization’s best defense against employment-related disputes is its foresight and preparedness to anticipate workplace challenges throughout the lifecycle of each employee’s tenure with the company. This process requires the organization to formulate and implement proactive strategies that contemplate each stage of the employment relationship, commencing with its hiring and onboarding practices, and concluding with the manner in which it handles terminations.

- In Part II of the series, we will detail those “must-have” policies that will help your organization avoid common legal issues that arise during the employment relationship. Specifically, we will discuss policies pertaining to: remote work/telecommuting arrangements; exempt and nonexempt classifications for determining whether an employee is eligible for overtime wages; requests for accommodations; paid and unpaid leave; and, other important policies that your organization should have in place.
- And, in Part III, we will discuss the steps you can take to reduce your organization’s legal risk when terminating an employee. We will guide you through the best termination practices and policies, including when and how an employee should be terminated. We will also cover how to avoid retaliation and wrongful termination claims. And, we will help you navigate common legal issues that arise during the termination process.
