As part of the Public Health Emergency (PHE) response, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recognized that there would be workforce issues stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic. CMS acknowledged that promoting telehealth in the Medicare and Medicaid programs was one response to address workforce issues. Some flexibility was also accorded with respect to licensure of health care providers. With the expiration of the PHE, workforce concerns remain as health care providers face burnout and consider the possibility of employment in alternative fields. Meanwhile, health centers by virtue of their Section 330 Public Health Service Act funding must ensure that they have the clinical staff (and/or contracts or formal referral arrangements in place) to carry out all required and additional services in their Section 330 health center scope of project.

In this webinar we will address:

  • What can health centers do to continue to attract and retain sufficient health care personnel?
  • What are the legal considerations of various incentive options and employee retention efforts, and what grant requirements apply by virtue of the Uniform Grants Guidance?
