WHICH HOLIDAYS DOES YOUR OFFICE OBSERVE?
Each year, FTLF observes the following Federal and other holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day (and the day after), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
From time to time, our office may close for other celebrations and/or occasions (e.g., Inauguration Day is a holiday in the District of Columbia). When we know in advance, you will see a banner announcement across each page of the FTLF Learning Center.
DOES YOUR OFFICE CLOSE FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER?
Yes, inclement weather and other emergencies can affect our ability to open for business and our team’s ability to get to work. Like many offices in Washington, DC, FTLF follows the Federal Government’s operating status in response to severe weather (like snow days and hurricanes) or other emergency situations. This means that when the federal government closes for the entire day, FTLF generally follows the same schedule. If the government has a delayed opening or early dismissal, we make all efforts to maintain our regular operating schedule, but will make decisions on an event-by-event basis. When a training is impacted by the government's operating status, we will contact all confirmed registrants directly.
All updates are issued by the Office of Personnel Management: you can check OPM’s website for the current operating status or download the OPM Alert mobile app.
NOTE: Our operating status only follows the government for “weather and safety” scenarios, not a government shutdown. Any OPM status updates that include the phrase “Due to a lapse in appropriations” should not impact our operating schedule.
CAN I STILL REGISTER FOR A TRAINING IF YOU ARE CLOSED?
Yes, the FTLF Learning Center remains open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; however, if our office is closed, we will not be here to answer the phone or offer assistance. You can still email us at learning@ftlf.com or leave a voicemail, but our responses are likely to be delayed and we may not be able to get back to you until the next business day the office is open.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY EVENT IS CANCELLED OR DELAYED?
We will make decisions on an event-by-event basis and, if at all possible, notify all confirmed registrants 24 hours in advance of a cancellation or delay. At all times, we will make best efforts to keep to our original schedule, but the safety of our guests and our staff are the top priority.
If there are any potential delays, disruptions, or cancellations related to an FTLF training, we will notify all confirmed registrants directly using the email and/or phone number in your Learning Center account. Please confirm that your registration has your contact information, not the main line of your organization or the email of your assistant or finance department.
Live Webinars: In some cases, we may be able to hold live webinars even if the office is closed. However, if the attorney(s) presenting the webinar are unable to make it to the office or we have trouble connecting to our webinar platform, we may need to reschedule the event. Everyone who registered for the live event will automatically be transferred to the new date and will be given complimentary access to the recording in case you cannot make the rescheduled date and time.
Workshops: We will monitor any severe weather or other emergency situations that would delay the start time or prevent us from holding a workshop in our office. If it is safe and feasible for our staff to travel to the office, we may be able to proceed even if the office is closed. In the event that we need to cancel and/or reschedule the training, we will provide information on transfers and refunds directly to all confirmed participants.
National Events: As with our Washington, DC Workshops, we will monitor any severe weather or other emergency situations that would delay the start time or prevent us from holding a national event. Since FTLF attorneys travel to these events, as long as it is safe and feasible for our staff to travel, we will make all efforts to proceed. If the weather or emergency impacts the venue’s location and not our office or our ability to travel, the decision may be out of our hands. We will do everything possible to hold the event, but if we need to cancel and/or reschedule, we will provide information on registration transfers and refunds to all confirmed participants.
