Taking Your Board from Good to Great: Board Recruitment and Navigating the CEO Relationship

Establishing and maintaining a board that represents the patient population, includes individuals with key expertise, and achieves meaningful engagement is critical to effective governance. Effective governance also requires a strong relationship as between the board and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). During this training, presenters will highlight effective recruitment and retention methods and improvements to orientation and training materials to hone board members’ skills. The presenters will also identify ways to optimize the relationship between the board and its CEO, providing tips regarding CEO evaluation, developing a CEO job description, and succession planning.
