Here We Go Again! Provider Relief Fund: Updated Reporting and Use Requirements
As many health care organizations know first-hand, confusion has reigned on proper use of the Provider Relief Fund (“PRF”). In mid-June, HRSA issued new reporting requirements and FAQs, and on July 1, the Provider Relief Fund (PRF) reporting portal opened. Among the significant changes were:
- Period of Availability of Funds is now based on the date PRF payments were received
- An extension of the period availability, but only for PRF payments made after July 1, 2020; earlier payments must still be used prior to June 30, 2021
- 90-day reporting period, so for payments prior to July 1, 2020, reports must be submitted by September 30, 2021
- Clarification on the definition of “lost revenue” (a favorable one this time)
- Confusing language on the use of federal grant funds and offsetting “patient care” revenue
